Building a bright future is a goal we strive for at Zenva. With technology becoming more important every day, it has become necessary for people in many different situations to upgrade their data skills. This can range from becoming an expert programmer who builds innovative digital solutions, to someone who just understands data management like the back of their hand.
On top of this, though, we also believe in causes that help our environment – one of the most pressing concerns facing our planet. Even in this area, data can become our greatest ally in ensuring humanity has a great place to live for a long time to come.
Thanks to our work with Humble Bundle, we’ve been able to help support charitable causes that also share this vision. With the Supercharge Your Microsoft Excel Skills Software Bundle, which ran from January 20th, 2022 to March 3rd, 2022, we were able to provide a premier selection of courses in Excel, the industry-standard productivity tool for storing, manipulating, and managing data. At its conclusion, this initiative raised $10,909.44 with 4,947 bundles sold!
Explore the charities supported by this bundle below and learn how these contributions have helped them.
One Tree Planted
One Tree Planted is a nonprofit charity with a very simple goal: reforestation. Founded in 2014 in Vermont, the charity works with 266+ organizations around the world to plant trees across different countries – with a promise that they will plant a tree for every $1 donated. While they work in many different regions, they focus especially on areas needing the most critical help, including the disappearing Amazon rainforest and areas devastated by recent wildfires. It is their hope that by planting trees, they can help improve the environment and increase forest biodiversity, which are both suffering from human actions.
Since its creation, One Tree Planted has planted over 40 million trees across 43 different countries. Their progress is rapidly improving, with the total trees planted in 2020 (10 million) more than doubling to 23.5 million in 2021 alone. They’ve also helped push for sustainable living that will ensure the trees they’ve planted are subsequently kept safe with improved living environments.
Each dollar raised for this bundle has been able to help One Tree Planted reforest areas in Australia and the UK. You can still find out how to volunteer or donate by visiting the One Tree Planted website.
Girls Who Code
Founded as a nonprofit in 2012, Girls Who Code is an organization focused on fixing gender gaps that are prevalent in the computer science industry. Through their efforts, the group provides online and in-person programs that teach girls both how to code and generalized computer science knowledge. While they cater to all age groups, they focus particularly on the critical age groups where girls are most likely to lose interest in the topic. Girls Who Code hopes that these efforts will create more female innovators, programmers, and similar for future generations.
Over the course of their existence, they’ve had 450,000+ girls participate in in-person groups, and another 500 million utilizing their provided online resources. This massive success has been particularly great for marginalized groups, as they’ve been afforded increased representation and opportunities through the programs’ efforts. Alumni of the Girls Who Code programs have shown to be three times more likely to graduate with degrees in computer science compared to regular university graduates.
With this bundle, every $50 raised was able to provide one girl a full year of access to the clubs and programs offered by Girls Who Code. However, if you missed the bundle, you can still find ways to support Girls Who Code by checking out their website.
We’re proud to have helped support these charities in their individual efforts, and look forward to continue working towards a bright future!
